NEAR Training

Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) are traumatic experiences from abuse, neglect, witnessing violence to household dysfunction. They can negatively affect our health throughout the lifespan. Breakthroughs in research on how brain development occurs and the impacts of trauma on health and social skills have led to innovative and effective “trauma‐informed” approaches in healthcare, education, human services, public safety, and workforce development.

Kitsap Strong is leading a NEAR (Neuroscience, Epigenetics, ACEs, and Resiliency) Education effort that is working to provide high quality, consistent, scientifically accurate information to our community. In September of 2017, an original cohort of 31 people in Kitsap, Clallam, and Jefferson Counties were trained in ACEInterface NEAR Sciences curriculum. The Olympic NEAR Speakers Cohort is now providing trainings and leading conversations throughout the region. To schedule a training presentation, or for more information, please visit our Speakers Bureau Directory.
