Equity

Kitsap Strong is committed to helping all people flourish. We believe that systemic racism and oppression are like poison in the water, and the poison is impacting every member of our community on their journey to flourishing. As Ibram X. Kendi, author of How to Be an Antiracist, writes, “Racial inequity is a problem of bad policy, not bad people.” It is time for us to blame the poison (policies), not each other, and engage in "brave conversations", speaking our truth, listening to the truth of others, and making space for multiple truths.

Our theory of community action starts with listening and learning. We believe these are powerful action steps. To support our shared learning, these are some of the resources partner organizations are finding helpful to facilitate brave conversations and deep reflection.
